Value Added Products

Ironstone’s research and developments efforts are also focused in the following areas:

Coal Resource Development

Ironstone has over 8,000 ha of coal permits under application to Alberta Energy to supply both energy and carbon at mine and mill site. The company expects to delineate drill the deposit during the winter of 2012. Joint venture opportunities exist for developing this adjunct project.

Carbon Capture

As a by-product of reducing iron oxide into metallic iron, carbon dioxide is produced.  Ironstone has identified near-by mature oil pools that may seek CO2 for secondary recovery programs and would benefit from a carbon capture program.

Phosphorous

Ironstone has identified that phosphorous, a typical waste product of the bulk ore, may have the potential to be concentrated and sold as a fertilizer to the farming industry.
